Wheel Refinishing

Wheel Refinishing

#1
My wheels, like alot of others I see (stock 87 S4), are faded and starting to chip. I want to refinish them so I called Larry Reynolds at Car Care Specialties to get his advice. He says that Easy Off oven cleaner will easily remove the old anodized finish. (he mentioned that he takes no legal responsibility if I try this) He said after removing the old finish, it is just a matter of what you want to do with them. I'm going to just clean the old stuff off and clear coat all four wheels with Wurth clear wheel paint. He said that this will leave a slightly brighter finish than the current finish. By the way, the wheels have to be off the car and the tires off the wheels. Thats pretty obvious, but I thought I'd say it. I'm going to try it after Sharks IH.

I considered doing it myself, but without the right equipment I guessed it would me take a weekend per wheel. FWIW, I had my wheels refurbished and repainted silver locally. They look great and it only cost $75 a wheel.
