Interior Lights Wont Turn Off

Interior Lights Wont Turn Off

The interior lights were working fine. Now when I leave the interior lights
switched in the position where they should come on when a door is opened, or
go off when the door is locked; they will not go out. Where should I start
with this one?

I would start with your interior light delay relay, the 86.5 was the first year model to have this feature. Yours could be "sticking".

Relay # XXI (next to the last on the bottom row , counting left to right)

If you discover it's not the relay then look at the switches on both doors and the hatch...My hatch switch wasn't opening up when I closed the hatch back and the lights were staying on...

Thanks you for the advice. That looks like the right kind of reason for this behavior.
Is the hatch switch in the female side of the hatch latch? How do I check it?

Thom

On my 86.5 it's located at the back end of the hatch back on the right side...When you close the hatch it is pushed up and the circuit is opened...
Mine had to be adjusted with a screw since it was broken by P.O.

Bob,

Thanks. It was a wire connector touching metal, and grounding on the rear hatch latch.

Cheers,
Thom
