Fuel Gauge Errors
<
indication. The gage will stay in that position for about the first 75
miles. After that point, the gage appears to work properly. I find it more
accurate to believe the odometer and not the fuel gage. Has this happened
to anyone else? Is this a sender problem?, float problem? instrument
problem? Any guidance would be appreciated. It's not a big deal but it is
the one annoying trait about an otherwise wonderful car! THANKS !!!>>
The fuel gauge in my 87 never worked correctly (it did exactly what you describe), but the fix was more expensive than the problem meant to me, so I left it. It read accurately, but never showed over 3/4 on the gauge. I think it's a problem with the adjustment on the rear of the gauge, because I had my tank & sending unit replaced and the problem persisted.
