Set the parking brake and put the transmission into top gear.

Assuming manual of course.

And other solutions depending on the job at hand for instance putting 1/2" drive on front pulley nut and bumping starter. Large screwdriver on starter teeth sometimes works too. The purists will probably flame me for any of these suggestions but...
